Some debate also exists as to whether right-wing groups deliberately target soccer fans as recruits or whether soccer fans are drawn into the groups because of the opportunities they offer for violence. Robins is drawn towards the former argument, citing the leafleting campaigns of the 1980s, while David Canter5 argues that the right-wing groups merely cash in on soccer violence, rather than instigate it. One would have to conclude that there are elements of truth in both theories.

while David Canter5 argues that the right-wing groups merely cash in on soccer violence, rather than instigate it. = While David Center argues that the right-wong group SPICIFICLY??? gain profit from soccer violence instead of provoking it. << does this sentence make any sense?

Don't ignore the use of the word 'merely' here; it is key to the meaning.

All they do (they merely) is take advantage of soccer violence that already exists. They do not create more soccer violence.

Yes, I know but what I needed is to re-phrase the sentnece ..simplify it..

I mean If I were asked to do so, I would find it a little bit difficult.

Here it goes..

while David Canter5 argues that the right-wing groups merely cash in on soccer violence, rather than instigate it. = While David Center argues that the right-wong group SPICIFICLY??? gain profit from soccer violence instead of provoking it. << does this sentence make any sense?

to me those who would provok the violence are the same ones who are seeking profit from it.

I'm confused, why would the writer use rather than which means instead of?? we use rather than to indicate negation as a contrary choice or wish.. both the words provoking and cash in on are unoppoed

Can it mean '' While David Center argues that the right-wing group specifially ??? gain profit from soccer violence and not provoking it. ok? still how can not provoking it and gain profit from it.. be any different?

Help?!!!! : ''(
Can the right-wing group take advantage from soccer violence without doing anything that will provok it????
