Topic: Many people prefer to watch foreign films rather than locally produced films. Why could this be? Should governments give more finacial support to local film industries

Foreign films seem to attract more viewer than domestic films today. There should be some reasons leading to this situation but governments should not give more financial support to local film industries.

The quality of imported films and the desire of finding more about other cultures are two main reasons that make people prefer foreign films than local films. It is true that films from developed countries like England, America attract a lot of viewers around the world because of the quality in those films. The colour, the sound and the actors are all amazing. Hollywood is an excellent example for this as it is one of the greatest film producers producing the most qualified films and it has millions of fans all over the world. Besides, watching foreign films also help viwers to enlarge the knowledge about the cultures, the beauty of other countries without travelling to those countries for real.

Although foreign films are much more impressive than domestic films, governments should not give more fund for the local film industries. Local film industry is also the same as any other local industries so it is unreasonable to give more finacial support to film industry than others. All industries have their own difficulties so they need to find their own ways to handle them but waiting for the support from government. The more support governments provide, the more independent film industry becomes. Thus, films industries should work with some organizations to raise fund to improve the quality of films which will attract more local viewers.

In conclusion, people prefer imported films rather than local films since the quality of films and the changes in purpose of watching films. However, instead of depending on money from goverments, local film industries should raise fund by themselves to gain back the viewers.

I belive that is a cultural situation more than matter of preferences.
since we were children, we are used to watching movies

On the other hand, it must be considered that the domestic cinematographic production is too little, therefore the ofert is limited.

I considerer that goverments can give more financial support, specially to projects universitary like documentals or biography movies about important historic personalities in Colombia.
