When I was at home and discovered that some of the things in my flat were moving, I had the uneasy/odd feeling that the/my block of flats would collapse.

Which bolded words should I use? Are there any errors in the sentence?

Thanks a lot.

Hi tamguatlay, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS ! ! !

I'd go with uneasy and the whole/entire block.

No errors that I can see.

Best wishes, - A.
Hi Tamguatlay,
Obviouly this is describing an earthquake. We don't discover earthquakes when the buildings start to shake. They find us whereever we are and make sure we feel their presence.

When I was at home and discovered that some of the things in my flat were moving, I had the uneasy/odd feeling that the/my block of flats would collapse.

I asked this question because recently, when I came home, two of my neighbours advised me to leave my flat as earlier (before I came home) they discovered that their flats were moviing slightly. Fortunately, the block of flats didn't collapse.
Ok, if you were away from home and returned to find your furniture being rearranged by an earthquake, then you may say “when I came home, I discovered some of the things had been moved from the quake and I had an uneasy feeling ….

Hello Goodman

You rule out 'odd feeling'. Like Avangi, you would choose 'uneasy feeling'. I was told by a native speaker that 'odd feeling' is correct. I wonder whether I should agree with him.

No, I am not ruling out “odd”. Uneasy or odd, it is a matter of the author’s perspective. Given the choices, I saw uneasy as a better choice for the context. Mind you, “odd” and “uneasy” are not directly interchangeable. You know that, don’t you?

If I say “I feel odd asking my in-laws for help”= You feel awkward about asking your in-laws but you know they are likely to help you.

If you feel uneasy asking your in-law for help, you may have a preconceived rejection in your mind.

If you were at home, you would notice that some of your things were moving. You would then have an uneasy feeling that the whole block was about to collapse.
