The following text describes Tony Oursler's video projection artworks in which a talking face is projected onto a blank-faced doll.

1. Does the blue section want to say "the video projected faces repeat monologues from the soap operas and advertisements that constitute our media-based culture, in the form of nightmarish schizoid monologues"?

2. what does "demotic" mean? Does it mean "common and everyday"?

Description:
The video projections onto their blank faces consist of talking heads that spew out the garbage and detritus of our technological mediatised culture of soap operas and advertisements, all of which become appropriated into these characters’ nightmarish schizoid monologues. Oursler is interested in multiple personality disorder, but this is of less importance to the sense of the uncanny in his work than the threat posed to singular identity by a media technology that generates fragmented demotic selves.

Yes.

catttt2. what does "demotic" mean? Does it mean "common and everyday"?

Yes. I suspect she used "demotic" advisedly, but I don't know why.
