Hi all

what is the difference betweenin these two statements

"i will be the secnd person" and "i would be the secnd person"
"Would" in this case is definitely used in a conditional sentence.

Eg, "If that happened, I would be the second person to divorce you."

"Will" may be used in a conditional, but it may be simple future tense.

Eg, "I will be the second person to ride in your new car."

(Spelling: I will be the second person . . . . .)
So do you mean that, 'would' means what might be and 'will' means that will be? Please answer.

Yes, that's what I meant to say.
Actually, there are many on this site who are far more qualified than I am to speak on modals and conditionals. Emotion: embarrassed

But don't forget that "will" can also be used in a conditional sentence.

If you [will] pay me enough, I will do almost anything!

Both "will" and "would" have many and various uses! Emotion: nodding
raviratnakar84difference between
will goes with the present tense; would goes with the past tense.

I promise that I will do that. / I hope you will do that. / I doubt that he will do that.

I promised that I would do that. / I hoped you would do that. / I doubted that he would do that.

I believe that I will be the second person.

I believed that I would be the second person.

If I were you, I would master these uses before moving on to the 500 other uses of these words. Emotion: smile
