This post does not relate to grammar or language problem.

I knew that the meal eaten in the evening is called dinner. But a widipedia search (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luncheon ) has made me confused. It says that "Dinner is the main meal of the day, eaten at midday or in the evening." Please someone enlighten me. Thanks.

Some call lunch 'dinner' and others call supper 'dinner'... and there are other permutations. If you search the threads here or on the internet, you will find long-winded discussions on this mundane topic.

I did not really know that. I also found a new word "Brunch", a portmanteau of Breakfast and Lunch.
