Hello,

I used to say "I'm already hooked up" when I'm going to meet with someone and someone else asked me to hangout with him.

But today I started thinking if using the word "Hooked" in this kind of situation is correct or not.

Also, yesterday a friend invited me to a party but I have this conference so I replied back with "I got hooked to this conference. Sorry!" is this a correct sentence?

Hope someone enlighten me Emotion: smile
It is correct, grammatically. But I think the word you want is booked up.
Hi,

A few more comments.

I think you need to be under 30 to have a good understanding of 'hooked up'.

In terms of men and women, I think it can suggest friendship, romance or actual sexual activity

I would recommend that English learners avoid the term until they feel they have a good understanding of the nuances. I don't.

But you will soon reach the age of 30, won't you, Clive?
