Doesn't fakes mean the same thing as false throws?

"The dog watches the ball as intently as he can through all the fakes and changes of direction and false throws that his master makes."

Thanks so much.

Hi,

No. A 'fake' can, for example, mean that I pretend to run to the left but then really run to the right.

So does "false throw" mean you make a mistake while throwing the ball and the ball went in a different direction than intended?

Thanks.
Hi,

No. In your sentence, it sounds like you pretend to throw the ball but you really don't throw it.
