Hi teachers,

Historians increasingly attribute the Depression to broad geopolitical upheavals. World War I shattered the existing global economic order. Dominated by Great Britain, it fostered vibrant trade and rested on the gold standard.

Would you please tell me if "it" means the Depression?

Thank you.

Hi Clive,

Thank you very much.

I forgot to ask the structure in my post. "Dominated by Great British, it...."

Does that mean Great Bristish dominted the existing order?

Thank you.
