What does "don't back out on someone" mean?

Thank you.

"back out on" may mean something like "terminate relations with", "withdraw from contact with", but I would like to see more context.

More context is needed to decide upon the exact meaning as GPY said.

You could back out of having a previous commitment. For example:

A: I have to back out of going to the game because it's my mom's birthday.

B: Oh, that's too bad. I didn't think you'd back out on me..., but I understand.

Yes, this may be more likely than my suggestion.
