Hello everyone,

I need some help with my english task.

The writing task was:

An english friend of yours has written to you to ask what you think about the following situation. He has been offered a job in a large city in your country and wants to know whether you think it would be better to live in the city or in the country within easy commuting distance of his job. Write a letter to him giving your opinion.

My letter:

Dear friend,

First I want to congratulate you with your new job. Having a job is a huge responsibility and I truly hope you will enjoy yourself here. Emigrating into the Netherlands is a big decision where you really have to think about. You are letting everything you have behind. Family, friends, belongings. So I hope you know what you are doing.

Now you want to know whether I think it would be better to live in the city or in the country within easy commuting distance of your job?

That is a complicated question for me. Why? Because it is a very personal decision. Something I can’t decide for you. But I can give you my opinion, like you asked me to do.

Living in the city has his advantages and disadvantages. When you are living in the city you are not dependent on the public transport. You can walk or cycle to your job. That will save you time. After your work is done you can go to the pub/club. But living in the city also means that you will be always surrounded with people. And I don’t know if you like that part of the city life?

Living outside the city has also his advantages and disadvantages. Living outside the city means you would have to leave earlier from home. You could go by bike or by public transport. But the public transport is not always on time. So you could arrive late on your work. When you want to go out, you also have to go by bike or by public transport. But the public transport is not available for the whole night. So you have to go home early.

That is my point of view on living in the city or in the country within easy commuting distance of your job.

I hope you will take the right decision and I would hear from you soon.

From Anouk with love.

I hoped someone could help me with this? Emotion: smile

Thanks a lot!
This is a good letter, Anouk. Here are my ideas.

Hi do you need help to decide where this person is to live because i would suggest that he goes to teh country side where all is quuite and calm so then when he has work to do he doesn't have kids in the street or cars and other transport going past his house.Anyway it also matters how far away he will be from work. Also does he want to leave his family just so he can have his job because to be honest everyone should think about their family first even if you don't talk to each other and he has nothing there he/she might not have anything here either so justask he/she all them questions because i wouldn't just move away for a job even if I don't talk to my family, I would re try because you never know what life throws at you.

Glad I could help,

All my love,
