Hi

I was trying to find the explanations in my manual, but couldn't find anything.

I know that when we say: It's my first time... then I should use the present perfect: It's the first time I have flown by plane.

when I say: It was my first time.......then I should use the past perfect: It was the first time I had flown by plane.

Am I correct?

Also: Is it alright to say: It's been my best vacation so far.

I think it's better than: It was my best vacation so far. I think "so far" is incorrect in the second example?

thanks

Your idea is correct here:

It's the first time I've flown.
It was the first time I'd flown
.

These are OK, too:

It's been my best vacation so far.
It was my best vacation so far.

Hi

I know the difference between these two tenses, but when would you use which, in what instances? Could you give me an example? When can I say that it "was" my best vacation; when I indicated which year I was there?
