Hi,

Something difficult again --

What's the meaning of the phrase FOR LAST in the following context:

One man is saying to another:

TELL ME ABOUT THIS AND I WILL SAVE YOU HOME WORLD FOR LAST.

Thanks.

We 'save sb for last' when we keep it by preference until it is the last remaining item of the set. In the set of foods on my plate, I usually save my favorite for last, i.e. I eat everything else first, and then enjoy my mashed potatoes last. In your sentence, the evil alien will destroy all of the other worlds first, and then afterwards destroy the listener's home world (. . .and I hope it doesn't start with an 'E').
