It's Friend's Day in Argentina today. Do you people around the world celebrate it to?
This is one of my favourite holidays.
And here's a little "gift" for for those who have friends, for those who are someone's friend, and even for those who think they have no friends; someone, somewhere, may be thinking of you right now.

Simon & Gar***el's "Bridge Over Troubled Water"

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all (all)
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you (ooh)
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

If you have a friend you haven't seen in a long time, or if you've quarrelled with a close friend, or if you are just thinking of someone you'd like to be friends with, send them an email or a card, call them or visit them. Any day is a good day for that.

Happy day![F]

Hello Miriam,

My name is Stefanie and I am in Buenos Aires right now! I would really like to get in contact with you because I am looking for a job teaching English in Buenos Aires. I am from the United States and love it here. I don´t know how these forums work because I have never used them before. I will be in Buenos Aires until August 1st and then will be leaving for Mexico to teach English there in a private school for a year. After that, I would love to come teach here in Buenos Aires for a year or so. Do you think you can help me locate something here or give me a heads up on how to look for a job here. I am told that teachers do not make a lot of money here but I am not really interested in making tons of cash, just enough to get a little apartment and enjoy my stay in Buenos Aires. Could you call me at the hostel I am staying at? It´s called Milonga Hostel in Ayacucho. The numbers are 4815-1827 or 4815-2143. I would really like to meet up for a cup of coffee and talk. I promise I am not a weirdo or anything!Emotion: smile

Well, hope to hear from you,
Happy friendship day, Mariam. By the way do you think friends last for long. Can you tell me about your oldest friend. Is the friendship more than 5 years old? I was just curious to know because ultimately only your parents/spouse/children stick with you.

I wish we would celebrate Friend's Day too.

And Santa, not all friends will walk away someday. I have a friend since kindergarden. We still are friends.
Well then you are very lucky. Emotion: smile
Santa, try to get in touch with ur old friends and u will find interesting abt it. Try...
Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Hello, Stephanie Emotion: smile
I'd love to meet up for a cup of coffee.
I'm not in the city of Buenos Aires, though, but in Mar del Plata. That's about 400km suth of Buenos Aires and some 200km (I think) east, or southeast, of Ayacucho. Have you been to my city? If you haven't, you should come and visit it, it's beautiful! I have a group of friends who are teachers like me and who would like to meet you as well.
Anyway, I'll call you in the evening. Let's see if we can arrange something.

I have few friends, true friends; no more than 10. I met my oldest friend almost 27 years ago, and we're still close friends. Most of my other friends I met some 12 or 15 years ago. I've been blessed with great friends, the best I could have wished for. Emotion: smile
And I don't believe friendships don't last ot that friends will eventually walk out on you. Most people come and go, I agree, but others stay and will be your friends forever. It's perhaps not easy to find good friends, but it is definitely possible.
Family is something different in my opinion. I don't see them as "friends". But I'm grateful that I still have my mother, a sister and an incredibly cute niece.
If you look around yourself, you'll surely find people with whom you have things in common, or simply people whom you like and who, in return, like you too. That's the beginning of many long-lasting friendships. Emotion: smile

Have avery good day Miriam. Many of my friends are as ancient as I am. I have known them for fifty years plus.
Thank you, David.
Having "old friendships" doesn't make us old but lucky! Emotion: smile
