Hi

Is this a common phrase among native speakers?

Get down to brass tacks

= get down to business, get down to the essentials

Thanks,

Tom

I've heard it quite a few times. I'd say it's common enough to be recognizable by most native speakers, but not so common that you hear it very often.

HAH! Just seven hours after I wrote this, I heard 'get down to brass tacks' on television. Emotion: big smile
