Hi. What does an overweight woman mean by these words “ I don’t get hit on quite as often” in this sentence: “ I don’t get hit on quite as often, some people aren’t as friendly to me, and some people are downright hateful in ways they wouldn’t have been when I was thin.” ?

She doesn’t often get hurt?
Or people don't understand her?
"Hit on" is a VERY common phrase when someone tries to engage you socially in a way that may lead to (depending on their objective) a future date or immediate sex.
Another is "pick someone up." That pretty girl is over there. just trying to enjoy her coffee and her book, and guys keep hitting on her.
Grammar Geek, thank you.
