Hi,

Sorry, I feel like I've asked about this exact phrase in a different context before, but couldn't find the post in my inbox.

Would you explain the underlined part? I understand "give me a break," but no clue for this "give her a break."

"Oh, come on," my mother would say. "I'm sure she's not that bad. Give her a break. The girl's just trying to do

her job."

Thank you,

M
Give someone a break - cut/give that person some slack - take it easy, don't be too harsh on that person.

"I'm sure she's not that bad. Give her a break. The girl's just trying to do her job."

It means you are being too strict or harsh on her and you should appreciate what she has done or is doing.
Thank you!

M
