Would you please correct any grammar mistakes in the following paragraph? In addition, please point out any ambiguities in meaning.

You bring up a good point that compensation should be based on the outcome of a team as well as of individual team members. I think this approach would first recognize the team and also the efforts of each team member. My former employer had a compensation program that evaluated employees based on two factors: performance of a department and performance of individuals in that department. This way the under performers would not reap the benefits just because there are some over performers.

I'd suggest something like this.

You bring up a good point that compensation should be based on team output as well as the work of individual team members. I agree with this approach. My former employer had a compensation program that evaluated employees based on two factors: performance of a department, and performance of individuals in that department. This way the under-performers were unable to reap benefits from the efforts of others.
