Hi there,

Could you please check for me if I have made any mistakes in these two sentences please?

I enjoy quiet life.

I enjoy the life of quiet / quietness. (Both are correct, as quiet can act as a noun as well?)

Cheers

"As shown" means "As it is shown (above)".

We don't use "As showed" for that meaning.

Thanks Mt CJ,

Do you interpret "attest" is more like "prove" or "verify" ? our dictionaries said "prove" but I feel it sounded like "verify" I wonder what is your opinion on this word then, please advise

The police attested to my address.

I had to attest to the bank that I own the house before mortgage is being processed.

It needs to be attested by a witness.

John AkiDo you interpret "attest" is more like "prove" or "verify" ?

I wouldn't say "verify".

"attest to" has several different uses, mostly meaning "vouch for" or "demonstrate" (maybe "prove"). "vouch for" is a little like "verify" but it's used a little differently.

The meaning "vouch for" is more likely if the subject is a person.

The meaning "demonstrate" or "prove" is more likely if the subject is a situation, not a person.

I have been practicing TM for more than 15 years and can attest to/vouch for its benefits.
Total strangers from the same U.S. city will bond with each other if they meet abroad. As a former military officer who's traveled worldwide, I can attest to/vouch for that fact.

Overturned trash cans on leafy residential streets attest to/are a demonstration of the raccoons' nocturnal forages.
Buildings riddled with bullet holes in both districts attest to/are a demonstration of the gunfights.

I would not use any of these sentences.

'attest' is not a word that is used very much.
