Hi all,

Firstly, hope you have a nice day.

Could you please help me clear the way to use " in whose" in below sentence, that I could not understand in grammar use? Thanks

“make it almost impossible to tell in whose hands a gun, shell, bullet or even fighter plane will ultimately end up, or how it got there.”

thanks.

The prepositional phrase "in whose hands" links the subordinate clause to the main clause.

It will help to separate the clauses into two sentences, and reposition the prepositional phrase.

A gun, shell, bullet or even fighter plane will ultimately end up in somebody's hands, but whose hands are they? It is impossible to tell.

Another trick is to move the preposition "in" to the end of the dependent clause.

It is almost impossible to tell whose hands a gun, shell, bullet or even fighter plane will ultimately end up in.
