Hi haka,

People is the plural of person.

One person
3 people
3,000 people

The plural form seems to be used to be more formal/polite? in organization names and other formal circumstances.

Googled: 72,700,000 English pages for "persons".

The police often use the phrase, "a person or persons unknown"

When we stick 'persons' with a specific number into an exact google search, there are plenty of hits but again they tend towards the formal as in documents, police/government reports, etc.

I'll suggest that for everyday, non-specialized language we refrain from using 'persons' and opt for 'people'.

hi abbie,
sometimes we can add plural -s after 'people' while talking about 3 different nations, or races e.x. in turkey, kurds and turks live together in peace , these two peoples have same rights... my question: as far as I remember, I have seen the word of person with -s, is there anywhere, we can use it with -s, like peoples?

thanks in advance
