The Advanced Learner's English-Chinese Dictionary
the 6th Edition
P1880

There is such a sentence:

The company has been tranformed from a family business to a multi-million-pound operation.

My students ask me, can we say:

The company has tranformed from a family business to a multi-million-pound operation.

+0
both forms are correct.

Also:

We transformed the company...

Of course, you meant 'transformed'.

If you use the passive, you are stressing that the action happened to the company by some effort.

If you use the intransitive, you are stressing the fact that the company changed, regardless of how.

If you use my third option you are stressing the role of the subject in the transformation.

I hope that helps.

Wangqh: Probably the passive is the better answer. It shows that the company was transformed by some hard-working executives. If you don't like the passive, perhaps you could say, "The company has grown from ...."
