Hi

Are these sentences natural English?

(Context: headlight flashing)

The driver behind me was constantly flashing me.

Don't honk the horn. Flashing will be enough.

Thanks,

Tom

Don't honk the horn. Flashing (your headlights) will be enough.

I would use the parenthesized parts unless the context makes it clear what you mean. 'will be' or 'is'. I'd say 'is'.

I've never experienced this flashing and honking thing myself, so I had to look it up in the California Driver's Handbook. It says there to use the horn sparingly and to avoid flashing your headlights. I was surprised to see this:

"Always signal before passing. You may also lightly tap your horn, or briefly flash your lights, to let the other driver know you intend to pass."
