Smith is as same as Bob in height.
Smith is the same as Bob in height.
Smith's heigt is the same as Bob's.
Smith is as tall as Bob.
Smith is the same height as Bob.

I think the 5th is childish and wrong from a strict grammatical point of view, although I found this structure a lot on Google.

Am I right?

Thanks

Smith is as same as Bob in height. No
Smith is the same as Bob in height.
Possibly, but seems a bit awkward to me.

I don't think this sounds childish at all. It's simply a very common usage. Why do you think the grammar is wrong?

I agree with Yankee's assessment. I also think that the last one sounds the most natural and is probably what I would say.

I thought of another examples:

Smith is the same ear as Bob. (wrong)
Smith is the same guy as Bob. (right, but strange meaning)

These made me think it's wrong. It's a bit hard for me to explain, though.

But now, I understand. Smith is a subject and the same height is a complement.

Thanks, Amy. Emotion: wink
