Many people believe that it is easier to have a healthy lifestyle in the countryside. Others believe that there are health benefits of living in cities. Discuss both views and give your opinions.

Some people hold a firm belief that rural life outdoes cities in facilitating a healthy lifestyle. However, others have the opposite point of view. From my own perspective, living in the countryside would do more wonders for our health compared to the city.

On the one hand, cities are undeniably advanced in terms of the fitness and healthcare facilities. For people that want to get regular exercise or practise modern sports such as hot yoga or cardio, big cities offer an inclusive service as there are numerous gyms or fitness locations that specialize in even the latest sports in almost every neighborhood. The presence of those places can act as a stimulus for city dwellers to exercise more and lead a healthy life. Besides, it is easier to get the right diagnosis and treatment when we live in big cities. That is because major hospitals or healthcare centers are established in cities where the best doctors and medical specialists work. In Vietnam, for instance, we can see people from the countryside commuting to Ho Chi Minh city to have a medical checkup since the service is not available in their place.

That being said, rural regions have a lot to offer regarding people’s health. Firstly, the countryside has abundant fresh air, greenery, and traffic-free roads that are very hard to find in big cities. This means that there is little or no air and noise pollution, the common urban factors that result in serious health problems such as lung and respiratory diseases. As we have no health issues, there is no longer the need to get treatment in city hospitals. Secondly, while city dwellers are becoming more sedentary studying or working in highrise buildings, people in the countryside enjoy more time outdoors with friends and get more sunshine, thereby having a healthy body and mind. When we are physically and emotionally strong and stable, a stress-free and healthy lifestyle is no longer a hard-earned pursuit as it is in the city.

In conclusion, despite the varied health benefits of life in major cities, I strongly believe that life in the countryside can be healthier for each of us.
