I went onto google and I think?? I found these two sentences. How about them. Do you think they are right?

Heftel receives most votes in first try.

Shouldn't it be in his first try?
James got the most first-team votes on 116 of the 126 ballots. OK.

Heftel receives most votes in the first try. OK, if try means ballot. Not sure about that.
