Hello everyone,

If someone's a teacher and he tells their students "You'll become teachers and replace me." In the sentence between the quotation marks, isn't it neater to use "hold" instead of "replace"?as follows:

- You'll become/be teachers like me and hold my position in the future.

Is that sentence above OK by using "hold"?

Regards,

JA

"Replace" is the better word. "Hold my position" is an entirely different way of wording it. You are changing the sentence. In the given sentence, "replace" is excellent.
