Dear Teachers,

1. – How old are your Mom and Dad?
- How old are your parents?

- Which sentence is right?

2.– Hang on!
- Hold on!
- Hold!
- Wait a minute!

- Are these sentences the same meaning?

3. – Now we really have big trouble.
- Now we really are in big trouble.

- Which sentence is right?

4. – They don’t think they can do any more of this.
- They don’t think they can do this any further.

- Which sentence is right?

5. She has some /many pimples / freckles on her left cheek.

6. Her hair is dyed yellow and platinum.

- Are 5 and 6 ok?

- Thanks a lot to Teachers,

Hi,

. – How old are your Mom and Dad?
- How old are your parents?

- Which sentence is right? Both are OK

2.– Hang on!
- Hold on!
- Hold!
- Wait a minute!

- Are these sentences the same meaning? Yes, except we don't say 'Hold!'

3. – Now we really have big trouble.
- Now we really are in big trouble.

- Which sentence is right? Both are OK, but we usually say the second version.

4. – They don’t think they can do any more of this.
- They don’t think they can do this any further.

- Which sentence is right? Both are OK, but we usually say the first version.

5. She has some /many pimples / freckles on her left cheek. All are OK

6. Her hair is dyed yellow and platinum. The grammar is OK, but the adjectives are odd. I suggest you just say 'blonde'. Also, women today talk of 'colouring' their hair, not 'dying' it.
Just say Her hair is blonde.

Best wishes, Clive
