There are variety of accents in the UK. Why many people want lose their accent and speak RP? And how do you lose your local accent? Any good books on how to get an RP accent? How long does it going to take to lose your accent with 2 - 4 hours per day of practice?

I don't think RP is what you want in any case.

When foreigners try to "talk posh" they always sound ridiculous. Aim for something more modest. I think some kind of general accent from Southern England might be good, but wait for someone from Britain to advise you on that.

Besides, no one who is over the age of 10 is ever able to learn to speak another language with a native accent, so it's not worth trying. You'll only disappoint yourself. Emotion: sad

That's questionable.

That's not always the case, if you train your ears and practice.

Good luck.
