I think religions are an asnwer to human spiritual needs. Not everybody needs a creed but a lot of people do. One of the members here (kit) said a nice thing about religions, that they offer a network of support for those who belive in it.

Another member (peter) said a fantastic thing too: 'Tolerance means to understand other people’s visions, actions and habits without necessarily agreeing with them'
If the vast majority follow that, many problems produced by religions and creeds wouldn't never happen.

I don't know how religions started inglish. I imagine the first thing to be worshiped could be the nature.

The Inquisition of New Spain, on June 29, 1620, published an order prohibiting the use of peyote for any purpose. deepa my apologies for butting in my thoughts or rather understanding (!) about 'hindu'religion

"Hinduism is founded on the existence of a single God manifest in hundreds of forms. It is among the most ancient religions, dating back more than 5,000 years. "

actually, 'hindu is not the religion, when aryavart was invaded by yavanas and they could not pronounce 's' of sindhu' they made it 'hindu - river - and people residing in the area were known as 'hindu'. otherwise 'vedic religion' would be the correct word for 'hindu religion' and vedas basically don't preach on how to worrship, but it is teaching us a way of life - how to live our life within the parameters of humanity.
So this is my understanding of religion - no religion teaches us to kill anybody, harm or hurt anybody - this is the basis of every religion - love, peace and friendship - can anyone deny this ?

with love

Sur
oh thanks sur!
Religions that gave from the God were (Jews, Christian, Muslim) these sent it by messengers. Some religions human created it, but God wants us to worship him only no idols and paganism. Each human when he get born has his nature to worship one God but parents with their thoughts change this nature. Some people worship idols, animal, sun and some are atheist so that means not all religions came from God.
