That's fine.

(Dear Dr Smith),
Dear Clive, thank you very much for your reply to my post.Emotion: smile

I would also like to say that my academic background could give a positive contribution to this project.: "I truly appreciate the courtesy you and your team extended to me during the inverview last week and I believe that I can make a positive contribution to your project " Is it correct?

Thanks again!
Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Yes.
Thank you very much Clive!
something like: "I am honored to contribute to this research project", sounds still formal?
To my ear it sounds excessively formal, even a bit fawning!
Teachers: We supply a list of EFL job vacancies
Thanks, it was really helpful!

how about:
I am positive that my skill set and experience will prove to be of great value to the project and allow me to make many positive contributions to your program.
It sounds to me too much like you are praising yourself.
Emotion: smile thanks
