Hey guys,

How do you actually pronounce IKEA? Ee-key-ya or eye-key-ya? In Russian, we say ee-KEY-ya (the second syllable is stressed) but I am not sure about English and Swedish. Is it the same?

I pronounce it the same way you do (actually it's more like ee-key-a) but my cousin who lives in the US pronounce it eye-key-a.
Ee-key-ya, ee-key-a... I had better make an audio with its pronunciation. Emotion: wink

Many of my family members live in Sweden and actually know the owner of IKEA. They told me that the correct way to pronounce IKEA is i-key-ya. With a short "I".

Anglicization involves fitting foreign names to the patterns of English pronunciation. That's why it is pronounced the way it is. This is the most productive process, unlike remembering all foreign pronunciations.
Ikea is a Swedish firm so therefore this word should be pronouce in Swedish that is as follow
