How white and black races ranked themselves?

Most Human beings who use the concept of racial categories believe that different races can be placed on a ranked, hierarchical scale.

The white category , considered to be the racist, make use of their physical conditions in order to lead on them.

whereas ; the black category is believed to be the devil one.

This noticeable differences is seen in everyday life. That ‘s the case of a song by called Tracy Chapman describe who the suffering of black races

“All you folks think you own my life
But you never made any sacrifice
Demons they are on my trail
Im standing at the crossroads of the hell
I look to the left I look to the right
Therere hands that grab me on every side”

By quoting this she refers the way white people are able to interfere and treat them as if they are the owners of their lives , as if they were a pet that they have to lead .

What is surprising is that white race treat them as if they were inferiors, and they are human being , they are not “vegetables” , they feel , they suffer, they have the same right, possibility, intelligence even white do not think the same , they do have.

That’s why , she mention that they white people never made any scarifies as they have their slave to do it.

Perhaphs , they would have to stop classifying themselves and accept themselves as a unique race, Human Beings.

Hi Veris,

Welcome to the Forum.

As you probably realize, this writing deals with a very sensitive subject. Before I correct the grammar, I'd like to ask you to clarify a few things. It's not clear to me if you are describing your own opinions, or those of other people. If it's other people, who are they?

Do you believe that different races can be placed on a ranked, hierarchical scale?

Do you believe that The white category is racist?

Do you believe the black category is the devil one?

Best wishes, Clive
Some more questions for you Veris

Do you believe that only white people can be racist?

How did you come to that analysis of the Tracy Chapman song? There is nothing in it that points to who she is talking about.

"What is surprising is that white race treat them as if they were inferiors, and they are human being , they are not “vegetables” , they feel , they suffer, they have the same right, possibility, intelligence even white do not think the same , they do have." Do you believe that all white people treat black people as inferiors and hold those views about them?

Dear Nona,

I don't think that ALL WHITE TREAT BLACKS AS INFERIORS , I say MOST OF THEM .In every aspect , we have to deal with as a single situation , not as a whole , WE DO NOT HAVE TO GENERALIZE , but if we deny that racial discriminatio exist , denegration of live , we are wrong. Why don´t we came back to history , the diference between white race and black exist . What do you think about that? Taken from Wikipedia http://www.answers.com/topic/racism-in-the-united-states

The central cause of concern to landowners was the unity of Bacon's populist movement. It raised the question to the landowners of how to divide the population politically in ways that would keep the poorer colonists divided enough to rule. To the Governor, the most threatening, and unexpected, aspect of Bacon's rebellion was its multi-racial aspect. Over the succeeding decades, colony parliaments which were influenced by wealthy landowners instituted formal racial divisions. Africans would be used as slaves, a category that was made lifelong and hereditary during this period. They were denied freedom of movement, gun ownership and land rights. White colonists were provided with substantial plots of land upon completion of their period of indenture, armed, and enlisted in patrols that policed black behavior and militias that fought Native Americans for land on the western border. This change began the infamously long period of the American slave society and marks for some scholars the beginning of the concept of race in North America.

I like discuss , it is a good way of learning and improving.

See you.

Hi Veris,

I don't think that ALL WHITE TREAT BLACKS AS INFERIORS , I say MOST OF THEM

I'm white, and I don't treat black people in that way. Neither does my wife, and neither do my children.

I'm going to move this thread to the Controversial Topics section.

Your heart seems to be in the right place, Veris, but I think that you're in danger of succumbing to the same prejudices of which you complain.

Here you claim that we do not have to generalize, but you are making an awful lot of generalizations in the very same paragraph, as well as throughout your initial post. It's not fair, let alone accurate, to characterize most white people as racist. Futhermore, it's a huge leap to suggest that anyone who is aware of race (which is pretty much everyone) believes that they can be ranked on a hierarchical scale.

I can only speak based on my experiences living in the United States, but I believe that while everyone I know of, with all kinds of backgrounds, has certain prejudices and biases regarding race (as is unavoidable). Still, none that I am aware of believe that any one race is inherently inferior to another. Most prejudices which do exist regard culture, beliefs, and economic background, which can indeed correlate with race. For instance, I know some people who have little respect for African American culture, and tend to stereotype their whole community. However, none of these same persons believe that any rights ought to be denied black people, nor are they unwilling to judge a black person on an individual basis. Most count black people among some of their closest friends. Frankly, their opinions regarding blacks parallel the opinions you've stated regarding whites.

I don't pretend to know how extensive prejudice is among white people as compared to other races, but I tend to believe that it is no greater. The difference is that in most historical interactions between whites and peoples of other racial and ethnic backgrounds, white people held the power, and thus were able to actively discriminate.

I would very strongly disagree with the assertion that most white people have that attitude towards black people. I have met a few people with that attitude but it has been so rare that they have stuck in my mind, and the vast majority of people I have ever met in my life don't have those views. I know that I live in a street with a mixture of races and no-one seems to act as though they think they are better than anyone else. I have worked with people from all over the world and there have been plenty of non-white people in positions of authority.

Mixed race relationships are very common in the UK - how would they happen if one person 'ranked' themself higher than the other.Quote from BBC News site "The United Kingdom has one of the fastest growing mixed-race populations in the world, fuelled by the continuing rise of inter-ethnic relationships...Data from the 2001 census due to be released later this year is expected to confirm that Britain has one of the highest rates in the world of inter-ethnic relationships and, consequently, mixed race people. By 1997 already half of black men and a third of black women in relationships had a white partner according to a major study of ethnic minorities published by the Policy Studies Institute (PSI). It also revealed that other inter-racial relationships were flourishing with a fifth of Asian men and 10% of Asian women opting for a white partner."

Of course there are racist people. There certainly are some white people who feel this way. There is also a lot of friction between other races, not just white being racist against black. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if you are looking for the strongest sense of discrimination against other races you need to look east rather than west as I hear more about overt socially and legally accepted racism from that direction than from the west. The most recent big race 'incident' we had in London was an area that erupted into violence between Asian people and black people from the West Indies, that was sparked by a false rumour spread about an Asian shopkeeper raping a West Indian girl, then gangs of West Indians went around wrecking Asian owned businesses and attacking Asians. The general theory is that it was really caused by a feeling of resentment by theWest Indians against the newer Asians setting up businesses in competition with them. But iff you came to London, you would find huge numbers of people from so many different cultures and countries, different colours, different religions, all living relatively peacefully. There are sometimes problems with individuals, of course, such as the example I have given above, but I don't know where you get your idea that 'most' white people feel the way you describe any more than any race of people can behave badly.

You can't just look at one period of history and let it form your view of all, sorry, most, white people in modern times. I don't deny that the US has some racial problems. Of course, slavery was an appalling episode in our histories. Are you aware that there are still large numbers of people living and working in slavery today - very few of them in the west. Slavery and bonded labour is still a way of life in some countries and if the concept disturbs you, you could perhaps look at doing something to help with the campaigns against it. Also, without making the slightest excuse for what happened, slavery was not invented with the trade in Africans to America. Slavery goes back thousands of years with it primarily being a case of people enslaving others from quite nearby. Slaves built the Egyptian pyramids. The Roman empire and the Greek civilisations both ran on (mostly white) slave labour.

What has made you think about the white people in the west in this way? Has it occurred to you that perhaps you are being a little racist against us by holding such a negative stereotype and believing you know what 'most' of us think? It's no different from a white racist saying "ah well, most black people are ...."
I suppose Veris was not expecting such an outcry... Interestingly enough this comes mostly from what I guess can be called the 'anglo-saxon' world.
Even though I don't have facts and figures to substantiate this statement, it is my impression that the US, Canada, and the UK are farther ahead on the road to a prejudice-free world. I don't agree with Veris either, in that I don't find most white people are racist in the day-to-day world I live in.
But still I find the system I live in (the company I work for, the society at large) isn't yet an equal opportunity world. And I know of some situations in the country I live in (France) where the system would mostly appear a prejudiced one to black and arabs. I'm not sure I'd call it blatant racism from 'white' people though ; as in the conviction of the superiority and greatness of their race. To me it sounds much more like ignorance of others, fear of the alien, bias towards the unknown... take your peck.
There's an interesting article on this subject in this month's Scientific American.
