Hi!

I was wondering if there is anyone doing the TEFL online course with i-i? because I am having many problems with Module 6 and could really do with some help! Would also be nice to talk to other people doing the same course to share ideas with etc.

what are you needing help on?

English is hard!

Ian
Hi!

I'm doing that too, what bits are you stuck on?

I'm doing Module 6 which is watching a CD-Rom of a teacher teaching a class and I gotta answer questions but I'm kinda stuck! I have to say how the teacher 'personalises the lesson' but I don't really know what that means! and there are a few other thigns I'm having problems with too!

Yes, English is hard!

Hey Natalie. I'm doing TEFL with i-to-i and have just started Module 6. I think the teacher personalises the lesson by adding humour ( the remark about the dog ) and the way he singles out individuals in the class to repeat things. Some of the students are obviously finding it harder to pronounce things - take the chinese guy ("exotic" and "exhausted")
The teacher drills him until he is confident about saying it right.

I'm only just working through it, but I hope this helps Emotion: wink
Thank you so much, that's a great help! = )

What do you think the level of the class is? I was thinking maybe Pre-Intermediate or Intermediate?

How is the "concept" of the structure made clear? that's another thing I don't really understand! any ideas?

How have you found the other modules? Are you enjoying the course?

I am enjoying the course very much, and I hope to have finished it soon [future perfect using 'hope'] LOL. I think the class is probably Intermediate but don't take my word for it 'cos I'm still working on it Emotion: wink How about you? Are you enjoying it? Are you planning to teach abroad somewhere?
Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Hi!

Yeah I'm really enjoying it and seem to be getting on well so far although this Module is quite tricky I think!

I would love to teach in a school in South Africa, that's my dream so hopefully one day I'll be able to do that. How about you?

For me, I'm thinking maybe teaching in Poland, although somewhere warmer would also be nice! The beauty of it is, you can move around with the job but obviously there are some constraints; with visas and so on. Keep in touch though - my email is on my profile page. Its always good to exchange ideas with people going through the same experience Emotion: wink
Poland would be cool, I've actually always wanted to go there, it's on my list of places to visit!

I mostly want to teach in South Africa although like you say, you can move around with the job which I think is good, you can do something you love (hopefully!) and get to see different places in the world and meet all sorts of people!
