It is actually a verb phrases, those are always followed by verbs in ing-form like: can't help, get through, think about, insist on, etc.

i am lookinf forward to meeting you is the correct sentence.

what would you call the "to" that follows "have" for the meaning of need?....what would you suggest to use after that?..the "ing" after a preposition?..i assume for what i understood from all you native english speakers theories that you will need to say "i have to learn"ing" my grammar before i speak...
