Some deem that job pleasure is more important than job security. In contrast, others think that having a stable job is better than enjoying the job. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Finding a suitable job for one’s career has been an agonizing prospect for many. Some regard job satisfaction as a more crucial aspect than job stability. Others, however, contend that a worker should strive for a stable position rather than a profession from which one derives pleasure. From my perspective, one should place equal importance on both when considering a certain occupation.

Security and stability are vital factors in choosing a job on account of economic and mental reasons. Specifically, A secure position usually provides workers with a sufficient and stable income through which they can lead a carefree and well-off life. This is especially true for individuals who seek a profession mainly because of financial considerations. Consequently, their lives would be less stressful and anxiety-inducing than their peers who pursue more satisfying yet riskier jobs. For instance, white-collar workers who have a monthly salary are less likely to be anxious and apprehensive of their future compared to artists whose livelihood is commissions and illustrations. Granted, an artist may earn more money than an office worker depending on how many clients he or she has, but art-related work is still fraught with anxiety and stress even if it generates a large income.

Conversely, Personal pleasure is usually a key component of a desirable and worthwhile job. This is because it is a major motivator for people to work hard and thrive in their respective fields. Although other factors such as financial and social ones can serve as an incentive, people have been shown to perform exceptionally when they find satisfaction and fulfillment in their endeavors. The most prominent example is scientists and mathematicians alike. What drives them is neither materialistic needs nor the glamour which accompanies their occupation. What truly matters for them is the unalloyed pleasure and fulfilling experience they gain when they have quenched their thirst for knowledge and made a contribution to the world. The same can be applied to other emotionally rewarding but unstable professions like artistic and athletic ones.

To recapitulate, opinions are divided as to whether job pleasure or security is more significant. I believe that people should strike a balance between those two factors to benefit their careers.
