The graph below shows how people buy music. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the habbit of people in music purchasing between 2011 and 2018. People tended to use 3 different methods: streams, downloads, CDs purchased.

It is clear that streams were used by most of music users, while the number of people bought downloads and CDs purchased dropped gradually throughout the period shown.

In 2011, CDs purchased were the most popular method used by 55% music lovers, whereas people did not have tendency to use streams, just only 5 percentage. In the year 2013, the number of people using streams doubled to 10 percentage. One year later, downloads overtook CDs purchased and became the primary method of music users.

Between 2014 and 2018, there was a decline in downloads method and hit a low of 30% in 2018, while the number of music users tended to purchase streams and reached a peak of 41% in the same year.

The line graph illustrates (wrong word.) the habbit (wrong word and misspelled.) of people in music purchasing (awkward) between 2011 and 2018. People tended (Do not use tentative words like seem and tend when describing facts.) to use 3 (Write words, not numbers for values that are not data values.) three different methods: streams, downloads, CDs purchased. (missing conjunction) (You did not describe what values are plotted on this graph. Not a good introduction.)

It is clear that streams were used by most of music users, (awkward. We do not use music; we listen to it.) while the number of people (Incorrect. Number of people would be expressed as numerical values like these: 54,983 or 1,234,876) bought downloads and CDs purchased dropped gradually throughout the period shown.

In 2011, CDs purchased (awkward) were the most popular method used by 55% music lovers, (not good English) whereas people did not have tendency (wrong word. Describe the data only. Do not make inferences on what people were thinking.) to use streams, just only 5 percentage. In the year 2013, the number of people using streams doubled to 10 % percentage. One year later, downloads overtook CDs purchased and became the primary method of music users.

Between 2014 and 2018, there was a decline in downloads method and hit a low of 30% in 2018, while the number of music users tended to purchase streams and reached a peak (There is only one peak on the graph, and that is downloads in 2014. There are no other peaks. Read my advice on the misuse of the word "peak") of 41% in the same year.

Your essay is not very natural English. In Task 1 you have to describe a set of facts and data, given in a figure. You are not supposed to interpret or make conclusions.

Essays will not get high scores unless the writer combines and compares categories. If you just put the numbers in text, it will not get a great score, even if your English is perfect.

If you would like a sample essay, you may ask for one.
