TOPIC: Everyone should become vegetarian because they do not need to eat meat to have a healthy diet. Do agree or disagree?

Many people choose to become vegetarians since vegetables are believed to be better for human bodies. Although I agree that eating plants provides us with a healthier diet, I do not think that people should stop eating meat in order to get better health.

There are numerous reasons why a vegetarian diet does our bodies good. Firstly, vegetables are rich sources of many essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and unsaturated fats. For instance, raw spinach is a good source of vitamin A, K, E as well as calcium. As a result, instead of eating different kinds of food to get these vitamins, we only need a bowl of spinach. Secondly, eating plant foods lowers the risk of obesity and chronic illnesses including heart diseases, diabetes and some forms of cancer. This is due to the fact that vegetables are low in fat and high in fiber.
However, there are also some disadvantages to take into consideration before becoming a vegetarian. Perhaps the principal one is that the vegetarian’s daily meals are not properly balanced, he or she might suffer from a lack of calories to meet his or her energy needs. Therefore, they will feel lethargy and unable to do anything energetic. In addition, meat plays an important role in providing us with one of the most necessary minerals- iron which only accounts for 2 or 3 percent in vegetables. Consequently, people eating plant-based diets will put themselves at risk of anemia the most common problem of vegetarians because of the lack of iron found mostly in meat.
In conclusion, in spite of being healthy, I strongly believe that the vegetarian’s diet should be considered thoroughly since it requires the balance of nutrition in food.

(Actually, it is vitamin B-12 that is deficient in vegetarian's diets. Mushrooms, dark leafy greens and some fruits are sources of iron.)
In conclusion, in spite of being healthy, I strongly believe that the vegetarian’s diet should be considered thoroughly since it requires the balance of nutrition in food.
