Answer
In this day and age, opinions are divided on whether families should hire a housemaid or require children to do domestic tasks. From my perspective, although both parents and children can benefit from hiring a house helper, I believe that the young will master more necessary skills when doing household chores.
On the one hand, it is understandable that having a housemaid brings about a variety of advantages to the whole family. For children, they can take advantage of their spare time when they do not undertake housework. For instance, adolescents can pay more attention to their academic performance, or let off steam after studying. This will enable them to have a fresh mind and be ready for the next lessons. Regarding parents, if the household chores are completed by a house helper, they will have the opportunity to pursue their hobbies and take good care of their offspring. Therefore, not only is their mental well-being improved but they also fulfill their parental responsibility.
On the other hand, I am in agreement with the fact that children should also be involved in domestic tasks. For one thing, teenagers often develop their soft skills during the process of completing household chores. As they have to strike a balance between homework and housework, their skills in time management and problem-solving will be gradually improved. The more skills youngsters possess during their childhood, the more likely they are to achieve success in the later stage of life. For another, children partaking in domestic tasks can develop a sense of responsibility. Only by doing housework can teenagers empathize with the efforts their parents have made. As a result, the awareness of acting their age of adolescents will ease the burden on parents as well as strengthen the existing bonds in the family.
In conclusion, I hold a firm belief that although employing a housemaid will allow the family more free time, children should do household chores on their own in order to acquire more precious skills and moral values. (335 words)
