Please correct my essay and give me some advice to improve, thank you!

Alternative energy sources that use the natural power of the wind, waves and sun are too expensive and complicated to replace the coal, oil and gas that we use to power our cities and transport.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Fossil fuel energy has raised various environmental issues and greatly affected life on Earth. Due to this, many people believe using alternative energy sources such as wind, waves and solar power would be more benefical to the environment. However, this idea is against by other people who argued that these type of energy is very costly and complicated to use.

On the one hand, I agree that alternative energy sources bring about some obvious benefits to the environment. Unlike fossil fuel, these sources do not create greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to global warming. Thus, by using these 'green' energy, we can reduce the impact of climate change and the Earth's ecosystem will be maintained. Moreover, fossil fuel are limited sources of energy. With this current usage of human it is worried that these sources will be depleted by the next few centuries. Alternative energy, however, are renewable. We can freely take advantage of these sustainable sources without worrying about them being run out.

On the other hand, I believe that it is very difficult to replace fossil fuel energy with renewable ones. First, in order to use alternative energy we have to establish large generating systems. These systems are usually very expensive and require a lot of effort to build. A further reason is that these alternative energy supplies are not consistent and reliable. They can only be able to operate depend on natural conditions. For instance, solar panels which are used to generate solar power cannot operate at night when it doesn't have sunlight. Similarly, wind turbines are unable to produce wind energy when they are built at dry places where there are barely any winds.

In conclusion, although I agree that alternative energy sources are environmentally friendly, I do not believe they will be able to alter traditional sources due to certain disadvantages.

You did not answer the prompt.

The examiner is looking for an answer to this question: To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is good to know a good handful of adverbs of extent because this is a very common prompt in IELTS Task 2 essays.

Complete agreement / disagreement:
------------

completely
fully
totally
wholeheartedly
unreservedly
with no reservations
without reservation
unequivocally
unquestionably
with no hesitation
unconditionally

Partial agreement / disagreement:
----------------

somewhat
partially
partly
to some extent / to a limited extent / to a point
with (some / certain / a few) reservations
conditionally

Note: I strongly recommend that you agree or disagree completely. Only very adept and experienced writers can successfully do a "partial" agreement essay.

Answer the prompt in the first paragraph. That forms your thesis statement.

Corona 9002 ( 1 ) On the one hand, ( 2 ) I agree that alternative energy sources bring about some obvious benefits to the environment

You failed to write the correct response for this type of essay.

( 1 ) You wrote a "discuss both views" essay. "on the one hand" is good for for "both views" or "advantages / disadvantages".

That is not appropriate for this task. If you agree "partly", you will fall into this trap, and possibly lose a lot of points in "task response"

( 2 ) Do not write opinions (I agree / I disagree) in the body paragraphs. The purpose of these paragraphs is to back up, justify or support your opinion.

The side effects of using fossil fuels energy has raised resulted in various environmental issues and greatly affected life on Earth. Due to this, many people believe using alternative energy sources such as wind, waves and solar power would be more benefical to the environment. However, this idea is against opposed by other people who argued that these type (wrong form) of energy is very costly and complicated to use. I completely agree with them.

(You did not finish the first paragraph. Where is the answer to the prompt in the instructions?)

If you agree completely, then you have to rewrite the next paragraph. It does NOT support your position.

On the one hand, I agree that alternative energy sources bring about some obvious benefits to the environment. Unlike fossil fuel, (wrong form) these sources do not create greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to global warming. Thus, by using these 'green' energy sources, we can reduce the impact of climate change and the Earth's ecosystems will be maintained. Moreover, fossil fuel (wrong form) are limited sources of energy. With this current usage of human (wrong word - we do not use human beings.) it is worried (wrong usage) that these sources will be depleted in by the next few centuries. Alternative energy sources, however, are renewable. We can freely take advantage of these sustainable sources without worrying about running out of them being run out.

On the other hand, I believe that it is very difficult to replace fossil fuel energy with renewable ones. First, in order to use alternative energy we have to build establish (wrong word) large generating systems. These systems are usually very expensive and require a lot of effort to build. A further reason is that these alternative energy supplies are not consistent and reliable. They can only be able to operate depend on natural under ideal conditions. For instance, solar panels which are used to generate solar power cannot operate at night when it doesn't have there is no sunlight. Similarly, wind turbines are unable to produce wind energy when they are built in calm locations at dry places where there are barely any winds.

In conclusion, although I agree that alternative energy sources are environmentally friendly, I do not believe they will be able to alter (wrong word) replace traditional sources due to certain disadvantages.

So if I completely agree or disagree I will just include ideas that support my opinion right?

Corona 9002So if I completely agree or disagree I will just include ideas that support my opinion right?

You are absolutely correct.

Put your strongest argument in body paragraph 1. Develop the idea. Give examples from your personal knowledge.

Put your second argument in body paragraph #2.

The conclusion briefly summarizes the main points.

Sorry for asking, but can you tell me what to do when I can't think of examples. Many times I can only think of 2 or 3 ideas and some reasons supporting them. But I just can't find good real life examples! The only way I can do is trying to include more ideas to fill up 250 words.

Corona 9002But I just can't find good real life examples! The only way I can do is trying to include more ideas to fill up 250 words.

Use your imagination. Just make them up. If they are believable, rational and reasonable, they will be perfectly fine to show your English language abilities.

For example,

If you are arguing about not replacing fossil fuels at this time, but after a few years, you can make up something like this:

The Engineering department of Cambridge University made a survey of all UK wind energy installations between 2015 and 2020. They found that only 25% of them were operating at full capacity, and 25% had significant down time due to mechanical failures. There were marked improvements over the period, but the designs need to be improved significantly before new investments are made. The researchers predict that by 2025, the turbines will be very reliable and much more efficient in low wind environments.
