The four pie charts illustrate the reasons for mobile phone's usage of adolescents in an African nation in the years 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Overall, social networks made up the largest part of the chart throughout the given period, while the figures for phone calls were the smallest segment.
Usage for social networks accounted for half of the total usage in 2016, and experienced a negligible decrease of 2% in the next year before increasing slightly to 51% in 2018. This was followed by a growth to 56% in 2019. Email, which comprised a quarter of teenagers' usage in 2016, fell to 24% in 2017. In the following years, the figure continued to drop as it reached 20% and 19% in 2018 and 2019.
In 2016, the usage for digital camera was 15%, and it remained unchanged in the next year while the figure for phone calls went up to reach it peak at 13%. The figures for digital camera and those for phone calls followed opposite pattern over the last two years of the period as the former gradually rose to 20% and the latter decreased approximately twofold to 5% in 2019.

Sample essay.

There are two styles for paragraph #1, 38 words and 46 words.

The four pie charts, labeled each year from 2016 through 2019, break down the primary usage of mobile phones reported by teens in an African country. There are four categories: social networking, email, phone calls and taking photos.

The pie charts show the results of four surveys of African teens concerning the primary way they use their mobile phones. Surveys were done each year between 2016 and 2019, and participants could choose from these four categories: social networking, email, phone calls and taking photos.

Overall, about three-quarters mainly used their phones for either social networking or email. And the majority of participants selected social networking, except in 2017, when it was slightly less. Making phone calls was consistently the least chosen option.

In detail, taking photos became more popular over the period covered, gradually rising from 15%, or third place, in 2016 to 20%, second place, in 2019. Making phone calls had the reverse trend, declining from one in ten in 2016 to one in twenty in 2019, and it consistently ranked in fourth place. Exchanging emails also dropped marginally from a quarter to 19%. The most frequently chosen category was social networking, ranging from a low of 48% in 2017 to its maximum of 56% in 2019.

Thank you so much but can I ask why "figure" is the wrong word, many samples I've seen use this word.

"Figure" is used in certain contexts, so you might see it in some samples. The samples might be incorrect, written by non-native speakers.

I advise students to avoid it until they are very familiar with the contexts where it is natural.
