Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer.

What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?

University has become an indispensable part of many people's study. Some choose it because of its provision of knowledge, while others attend the university for skills and experience like in the workplace. In my opinion, knowledge and skills needed for an employee should be the main focus of a university.

To begin with, the purpose of joining a university after all is to get a job. In fact, work is necessary for everyone in order to make money or fulfill their dreams. According to this, a university often only focus on a specific field, such as economy, media or science. Therefore, studying in a university should help students meet the employers' requirements.

Moreover, all social skills and knowledge gained in university can become a bonus for the CV. Among several other applicants for a job position, only one with diverse skills and experience can stand out in the employer's eyes. For example, these skills are normally the ability to use Microsoft Office, speak different languages or teamwork skill, which are not often provided in the ordinary knowledge at university.

In conclusion, a university should provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for an employee. Therefore, they will have a higher chance of getting their dream job
