Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the world is facing today.

What are causes of global warming and what measures can governments and individuals take to tackle the issue

In our modern era, industrialization is causing a large number of problems for mother nature, especially global warming. There are major causes and a great number of solutions for this issue.

Greenhouse gas usually resulted from industrial activities is the main factor that leads to global warming. Traffic jams in rush hours and the overuse of traditional vehicles emit a heavy amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Recent researches have shown that a typical passenger vehicle emits about 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. Besides, deforestation also contributes to global warming by destroying a large scale of forest every year. Trees act as air-cleaning machines, improving air quality in many ways so the lack of trees can lead to poor air-quality as well as more carbon dioxide. Another cause of global warming is from agricultural activities. For example, using chemical fertilizers to improve the qualities of crops is responsible for 2.5% of all greenhouse gas according to The International Fertilizer Association. Raising cattle such as cows, sheep, ... etc results in a huge emission of ethane, a strong greenhouse gas.

However, there are measures we can take to tackle this problem. Every nation’s leaders need to enact laws against global warming, such as limiting the discharge of carbon dioxide by factories into the environment. Additionally, the government should launch campaigns to raise people’s awareness about global warming, for example, by encouraging them to use electric cars or plant more trees. Every individual should learn about how to reduce, reuse and recyle resources, for example, shop less, buy more second hand stuff, fix broken things.

By and large, global warming is an urgent problem resulting from the heavy emission of greenhouse gases caused by human activities. Nevertheless, it’s not too late and there are still ways to fix this problem.
