Topic 29: Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology. In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships that people make? Has this been a positive or negative development?
These days, the development of technology has revolutionised the way we communicate with each other. As a result, it has a strong impact on our relationships in many ways, and I believe that we will greatly benefit from this increasing development.
To begin with, technology has changed the way we interact with each other. Modern devices like smartphones, and the Internet have made communication nearly boundless. People only need to possess a smartphone, then connect it with 4G networks; then they can call or chat with people from over the world, not limited to only their country. Besides, with the introduction of many social platforms, people are gradually combining virtual and face-to-face conversations. It can be easily seen in many hybrid programs in studies and workshops, where people can choose to watch them either online or at the site for their convenience.
Furthermore, these changes are doing wonders for people’s lives. Firstly, we can be a “global citizen” in an easier way than that of the past. By possessing a smartphone connected to the Internet which is almost affordable nowadays, people will be able to get the knowledge, experience and interaction worldwide due to the functions it provides. For instance, agencies can work with foreign customers effectively and fast only by mail or meeting platforms. Secondly, many social networking sites will accommodate people’s conversations. People would be more flexible in their work and studies by using virtual methods in many ways. Regarding the traditional ways, face-to-face meetings, they have to go away which requires a lot of time and money, even it is difficult to arrange an appointment when every member is available. In contrast, people can work at home by interacting through the screen and using some digital tools which is much more convenient.
In conclusion, modern technology has altered the way we socialize with each other, and it will bring many advantages to people, especially for working in a distance.
