Talking about clothes

-----------------------

Mom: Gloves ... No, these gloves are the wrong size. Much too small.
Boy: No, they won't fit me.
Mom: Boots ... No, these certainly won't fit you.
Boy: No, these really are the wrong size, but never mind,
I'll just hold them. But why do we need all these clothes?
I forget!
Mom: Well, you need an overcoat to keep your body warm.
A scarf to keep your neck warm. ....

-----------------------

I'll just hold them.

What does "just" mean in this sentence?

The boy knows that he is not going to buy that particular pair of boots. But he really likes the color, the design, and the material. He wants to find pair identical to them, but in his size. So he will only pick them up and carry them to the salesperson so that they can get the right size for him out of the back room.
