The colon is wrong. "The six states are Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu."
You might use a colon if you make it "The six states are the following: Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu." But that is unnecessary and sounds like it.
