Hi teachers,
This is for a listening exercise. What is underlined is what the students have to fill according to what they hear.
a) In relation to the statement, 'Then he heard the dogs again, but he could not see the lights.', is this question appropriate- 'What did he hear again and what could not he see then?'
b) In relation to the statement, 'The man was cold now, and very, very tired.', are these questions appropriate- 'How was the man now?' / 'How did he feel now?'

Thanks in advance

When you have a "fill-in-the-blank" type of test, the blank is filled in with one word only. So for a):

Question: What did he hear again, and what could he not see?"

Fill in the blanks: Then he heard the _____ again, but he could not see the _____.

For b):

Question: What kind of physical condition was the man in now, and how did he feel?

Fill in the blanks: The man was _____ now, and he felt very, very ____.
Hi Anonymous,
Thank YOU so much for your reply. You have given me excellent questions.

What kind of physical condition was the man in now, and how did he feel?
Two more questions please:
Is it absolutely necessary the preposition 'in' in the question?

What did he hear again, and what could he not see?
Why is the word 'not' after the pronoun in this question, and not after the modal verb 'could'?

When you have a "fill-in-the-blank" type of test, the blank is filled in with one word only.
Yes, I know it. Here I just wrote the teacher's page, but believe me that the students have them in separated lines, one for each word. Though thank you very much for your advice.
