KabayanThis is similar with when parents tell their daughter to not wear only G-string and sexy bra to school.
I am pretty liberal, but I have to agree that it is probably not a good idea for girls to go to school wearing only g-strings and sexy bras - especially in winter when such minimal clothing could cause all manner of health problems. Do girls really go to school like that someplace?

Now I am feeling that I had a REALLY deprived childhood. My school didn't even have girls!

I at first disagreed with Kabayan because I thought that the reference was to only the underware of girls which has precisely nothing to do with anybody except the girls. If a girl wants to wear a sexy bra and a g string or a tenga then teachers and old people should make sure that they never see the girls underware.

If the claim is that girls go to school wearing only underware then that is plain silly and not requiring serious rebuke. I suspect a joke.

When a muslim tell other muslim how to dress, he/she is merely telling the interpretation he/she knows or the interpretation that he/she thinks the best. It is no problem in telling other people what we know right ? It is no problem to ask other member of society to follow what we think the best from other choices right ?

It could be a big problem if the person you're asking to follow your own interpretation of the rules does have a totally different interpretation of those same rules. You're not simply discussing your different interpretations, you're imposing on someone else your own point of view.

I didn't say that, wearing "only" G-string and sexy bra to any public place like school was a good idea, nor i say that it was a bad idea, eventhough I am sure that I won't allow my daughter to do that. Emotion: big smile

I wasn't judge anything. I simply point that so many parents, teachers, politicians, schollars, or community leaders, always have a "feeling" to tell other members of their community to follow all of "SOCIAL CODES" of their community. Even in my community, there are policemen who tell other people to follow traffic rules. ( Ups..I think traffic light is a kind of "Social Codes".)

Do girls really go to school like that someplace ? If there is such place, I would really love to go there.

Didn't even have girls ? Poor you..! Emotion: big smile

Dear Stannum, my point is that we always be a member of a society. And every society has its own social codes. Every social code is a manifestation of social construction. Every social construction is developped in a very long time interaction of personal needs, social circumstances, and natural conditions.

I understand that each of us have a right to show our view regarding anything. I respect your view, and I am sure that you are gentleman enough to respect other's views. Moreover, we can use one of two ways in evaluating something, Objective method or subjective one. I am trying to be as objective as I can, but you know that it is hard to be always succesful.

I totally agree with you Alexa ! But don't you think that problems are part of our daily life ? And we have brains to deal with them, right ?

Parents will have a problem when they tell their children to do their homeworks, if the children have a totally different idea regarding homeworks.

policemen will have a problem when they tell other member of society to not speeding, if the other party's understanding about speeding is totally different.

Teachers will have a problem when they tell their students to be serious in their study, if the students have a totally different interpretation about studying.

Is it bad if I impose my understanding to my children that education will be very usefull for their life ?

Hello Kabayan:

I don't think she meant educating your children, but rather imposing on a grown-up person your point of view. Of course

you have to educate your children and reason with them, and teach them what you think is right. (And as yet, I don't know any children who want to do their homework Emotion: big smile ).

Teach your children well it's the parent's hell, isn't it?.

I am embarrassed to say that my level of English comprehension is not high enough to be able to winkle out your intended meaning other than you respect my view and you seem to comprehend that I respect your view, what ever it is.

This means that it's all good.

Dear Sara,

I just wanted to make a comparison, I knew what Alexa meant. In my humble opinion, imposing or being imposed can not be avoided from our social life. Imposing or being imposed can have both positive or negative effects. It depends on various aspects.

I need your opinion regarding the meaning of two English words, Do you think "Campaigning" and "Imposing" have similar meaning ?

Remembering my childhood, I preffered to play video games than doing my homeworks.

Yes, sometimes I fell like I was in hell when educatting my children, but hey ! I am enjoying it for some other time.........that's the entertaining side of educatingchildren.

Thanks for your reply.
