Dear teachers,

Are the following sentences grammatically correct?

(A). It is strange that the two angry men go out without scolding us.

(B). It is strange that the two angry men went out without scolding us.

In my humble opinion:
In sentence (A). I use present simple go because the sentence begins with it is.
In sentence (B). My friends say it has to be a past simple went ( because no one will know the strange outcome until they have left )

I'm confused, Care to explain!

Your kindness will be very much appreciated.

.
Well, I see your friend's point, but A would be OK too if it read:

(A). It is strange that the two angry men are going out without scolding us.
(B). It is strange that the two angry men went out without scolding us.

The strangeness could also descend upon you as they were leaving.
