Hi again,

To Steven Mc and anon.; Honestly NO offense was intended not from my part, nor ,I believe, from other members.

I think the post of blackouthernbelle answers your question. Furthermore, we believe as mentioned in the Qur'an that Jesus isn't the son of God but he's a massenger of God. And you say that Bible claimed that Jesus is the son of God. It'd be illogic ,for us as Muslims, to think that God sent two books that carry contradictory information!!!

Anyway I'd like to verify the fact that no offense is really intended. You ask and I answer. This's simply the fact.

Regards,
BlacksouthernbelleWell, the bible itself went through several transformation dealing with languages alone. I truly doubt English was a language during the time of Prophet Isa (Jesus) (pbuh).

Indeed, the Bible is written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek (the New Testament).

Blacksouthernbelle
Everyone knows (at least those who speak two or more languages) that there are somethings that cannot be translated or sometimes translated to a word that closely matches it in another language. Also with translations several words or sentences sometimes loses their meanings.

The Bible was translated from its original language into modern day English (yes, I know there were several languages that it was translated to before it reached modern English) there are bound to be some errors somewhere (things added or taken away).

That's the reason why it took members of the Catholic Biblical Association of America more than 25 years to create a new translation of the Scriptures, called the New American Bible. This is the latest version of Christian Bible up to date. They translated it from the the original languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek) or from the oldest extant from which the texts exist.

Blacksouthernbelle
I see the same thing with the Quran. The English translation of it doesn't always match the Arabic version of it. After all the English is only an interpretation of the Arabic version. There are several words in Arabic that doesn't translate (or doesn't translate well) into the English language and vice versa.

Obviously, a translation cannot completely express its original meaning. I did some translations and I found it terribly difficult to express what I understood the messages. But in the above mentioned book, I mean the New American Bible, there are footnotes to clarify you the context of the texts or some words and phrases that are difficult to be literally translated.

Blacksouthernbelle
Also if one was to actually take the time to "pick apart" the bible one would realize that the bible itself mentions (or refers to) books that aren't even in the bible (and I am not just talking about the books that are considered "the lost books of the Bible" and can be found floating around the internet or your local library...

Could you show me which books arent in the Bible that the Bible refers to? And why do you have this conclusion? Could you prove it?

I can't agree more with anon that this forum should be the forum to practise and learn English nothing more than that. I can accept any topic to be discussed here including Religions, however, the topic should be secondary or even tertiary.

As a Muslim, I suggest sister Miss_Muslima to stick with the main purpose of this forum, which is for learning and practising english.

If and only if you have another main purpose like debating religions, I would not hesitate to help you find a website that is dedicated to discuss religions. Please do not be confused, I am proud to be a Muslim. I decided to choose Islam because, after some times of thinking, I found Islam is fit for me. Subjectively, I do "think" that Islam would fit with everybody in this world, but I don't consider everybody should become a Muslim. Remember that according to Qur'anic teaching There is no compulsion in religion. Emotion: big smile

Al salamu alikom kabayan:

I like that in this forum would be interested in learning english and also discussing general topics.I noticed that some members had some threads asking about islamic issues and they had no the right answers, so I prefered to give them the right point of view of islam specially from the specialists cuz their opinion (fatwa) is better than mine plus giving my opinion after.

Im so proud too to be Muslim, and thank you too much brother Kabayan for supporting me.

I do understand what you need to do. In my opinion, giving different perspectives to others who have negative view on a certain thing is a good thing. I also noticed that you can focus and stick to the main purpose of this forum, that's very good !
